IN GOOD HANDS

Waist Saving Menus
Restaurant food can easily sabotage weight control plans and even befuddle the most earnest weight watcher. Here are a few tips to help you keep in shape:

Steakhouse : Choose one of the leaner' cuts of steaks such as sirloin or top round. Most steaks are way bigger than you should eat. Order a salad (dressing on the side) instead of fries. When your 20 ouncer arrives cut off the portion you'll eat, then take the rest home.
Japanese : You can't go wrong with sushi: it's high protein, low fat. Start off with a serving of soybeans. Order the fish at a Japanese steakhouse.
Italian : Try to eat fish here too! Absolutely no fettuccini alfredo and if you order pizza, have them go light on the cheese and heavy on the sauce.
Mexican : Go with the fajitas and don't ask for more tortillas. Stay far away from the cheese and sour cream and you'll be fine.
American (comfort food): Watch any gravy or deep-fried food, whether it is fries or that crispy chicken. Make sure you eat that salad first, light on the dressing, and then soup -- preferably not a cream-based one. Go for that lean meat loaf, with the mashed potatoes (no butter) and green veggies

Secret to Good Health
Everybody wants it but what do you have to do to get it? Major diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes all have one thing in common. They all may be preventable or at least slowed through two things. Physical activity has long been known to keep you healthy while the benefits of fiber may actually be news to you. Fiber can actually reduce chances of several diseases by lowering cholesterol and slowing the absorption of sugar. Fiber also speeds movement of food through the intestine. This reduces the time that cancer-causing substances are exposed to your intestines. Want to stay healthy for the long haul? Exercise (30 minutes a day) and eat lots of fiber.
Magic health food
What is one of the healthiest foods you can eat? It's beans. They are rich in antioxidants so they help fight heart disease and cancer. Use this rule: the darker in color the better they are for you. So black is best followed by red, brown, yellow and white.
