In order to diagnose or detect a structural fault or problem along the spinal column, Dr. Dennis uses a variety of techniques and diagnostic tools. He will select and perform an adjustment technique that's right for you. Remember, the focus of chiropractic is the integrity or optimal funtion of your nervous system. Chiropractors are experts in several techniques, as described below:
PHYSICAL
"Hands-On" examination: The key to diagnosing subluxations, defined as tiny spinal distortions that can affect your nerves, muscles and organs, is primarily through "hands-on" examination of the spine. Any misaligned vertebrae can interfere with the function of the nervous system and a trained practitioner can detect these minute subluxations by gently touching the entire length of the spine, from the base of the head to the tailbone.
X-RAYS
Only when it is determined as necessary for accurate diagnosis, will Dr. Dennis use radiological films of areas of concern. The equipment in this office uses extremely low radiation exposures.
ELECTRONIC SCANNERS
| The office is equipped with the latest model for electrothermographic scanning of the spine. This is a painless procedure in which surface pads or electrodes are placed in key areas all along the length of the spine and then a heat range is detected. A final printout records the electro-muscular activity of the spine. The color range of blue, green, yellow to red help explain the focus on the
problematic
areas of the spine. |
DEMONSTRATION TOOLS
Being a great teacher, Dr. Dennis loves using props during his lectures and patient interviews. His tools are both effective and enlightening, to say the least. His analogies of nerve interference will stay with the patient's understanding for years to come, as they see the simplicity and benefit of regular chiropractic care.

CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS
A chiropractic adjustment normally involves the chiropractor's hand purposely applying varying pressure along the spine in order to correct detected subluxations. As noted above, subluxation interference from the moving bones of the spine prevent complete nerve conduction to and from the brain and spinal chord. Adjustments are always specific, targeted, and focused.
TORQUE RELEASE
This technique uses a small hand-held device that releases gentle pressure onto focal points along the spine to correct the sublixations, or spinal distortions, in place of the more common chiropractic adjustments.
DEEP MUSCLE & TENDON THEORY
Referred to as NMR or neuromuscular reeducation, this technique is actually a hands-on soft tissue manipulation of minimizing or removing restrictions caused by scar tissue. In our daily lives, we often pull a muscle or create micro tears in soft tissue; sometimes the only sign may be temporary pain. The body's normal, natural healing process after tissue energy is to repair it and unfortunately, scar tissue is part of that process. The problem with scar tissue is that its fibrous and tight - causing restrictions, nerve impigment and yes, pain. this somewhat painful treatment breaks down scar tissue and restores the affected areas back to normal function. Dr. Dennis is one of only two chirpractors in Phoenix who is truly certified for this NMR technique. Usually 3-5 sessions are recommended
